It ain’t calculus

I’m using the free internet at Arby’s when I get hungry and decide to get some fries and a drink. I go up to the counter and order. The total is $5.11, I hand her a $20, a nickel ($.05), and six pennies ($.06).

She counts the change, thinks the twenty is a five, and types in $5.11. The register says $0.00 for change.

Then she realizes her mistake and– rather than simply giving me a ten and a five– she tries to void the transaction and type it in again… but she doesn’t know how.

Her mind cannot grasp that $20.11 - $5.11 is equal to $15, I guess. So she calls the manager, shows her the $20, and the manager helps her type it in.

“It’s $14.89. What plus 11 is equal to 100?” the manager tries to explain, misevaluating the situation.

I’m too entertained (and disgusted) to correct them as they give me a $10, four ones, three quarters, a dime, and four pennies.

I figure I paid 11ยข for a display of the New Mexican educational system. Also, I figure it serves me right for trying to get rid of my spare change..

  1. Happy birthday demon child - dont be thinking that I forgot. Its not technically your birthday yet…for if your time zone is in fact 12 hours behind mine there is in fact 2 hours and 26 minutes until the first minute of the anniversary of your birth… Happy birthday, I wish you cake, fizzy drink and plenty of dresden dolls. I I could send myself in post and not die Id be there in 2 hours and..24 minutes to give you birthday hugs as well.
