You know, I really thought he was the better option because I knew absolutely nothing about politics, which is one reason I don’t like most Republicans, because I feel like most of them have no idea what they’re talking about, but believe that they do with a very strong passion. Of course there are the exceptional ones who believe in Republican ideals truly, actually knowing what they’re signing up for, but I really believe that more Republicans would be more liberal if they were more educated about what their parties stand for. A lot of people who don’t look to far into politics are “issue” voters (abortion, gay rights, etc.) and that’s where the parties get them. In reality, most people ignore the vast majority of the other things that they should be paying attention to. For example, in one of my many arguments with my mother I made the argument that taxes should be higher for rich people and she agreed with me. She said that she though there should be a standard rate of tax for everyone, like %7 no matter who you were. She vehemently disagreed with me when I tried to point out that that was a very liberal idea. I think what most liberals don’t understand is how hard it is for most conservatives (at least the closeted liberals who didn’t even know they were really liberals all along, like I used to be) to get past their fears and preconceptions of the world. It’s easier to go along with it than to have to admit you were wrong and readjust your views accordingly. End rant. For now.

Hmm. I’ll have to focus my Monday post on the morality of lying through your teeth in order to get what you want at other people’s expense.

*sigh* yeah, I had quite a few friends that voted for him. I just don’t understand what made Bush seem competent. Wouldn’t not voting at all have been easier?

My mom is a Nielsen household and she says that they ask you to sign a contract not talking about it otherwise your ratings might be skewed by influence, which is true because I made her watch Veronica Mars when it was in danger of being canceled. I guess it didn’t work, though.

Also, and I probably shouldn’t tell you this, but I voted for Bush in 2004 because that was in the middle of my college political crisis when I was a lowly idiotic sophomore, because I was learning that everything my parents had been teaching me about politics for my whole life was not true. It was a very stressful time convincing my brain to reject its long held beliefs, and believe me, I regret the votage. But…fun story, right?
